Candidate Nomination Period for 2026 Bancroft Business Improvement Area Board of Management Election Begins Monday, November 2nd
The Bancroft Business Improvement Area (BBIA) is notifying the public that the nomination period for the upcoming BBIA Board of Management Election officially begins on Monday, November 2, 2026. The nomination period ends on Monday, November 23, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
Offices to be Elected: Ten Directors
The Bancroft BIA Board of Management consists of eleven (11) Directors: ten (10) elected members and one appointed by Town Council. Once appointed by Council, Directors will serve a four-year term expiring November 14, 2030.
Who is Eligible to Run:
A person is qualified to hold office as a Director of the Bancroft BIA Board of Management if they are a member of the BBIA and are either an owner or tenant of property assessed as a business property class located in the Bancroft Ward.
A tenant is a person, corporation or partnership that rents a commercial or industrial property within the Bancroft Ward and is required to pay all or part of the taxes on the property.
Nomination Procedure
Nomination packages are available for pick-up at the front counter at the Municipal Office or available at Bancroft.ca. Candidates who wish to file their nomination are required to make an appointment with the Clerk by email at [email protected] or by phone at 613-332-3331 ext. 208. Nomination forms must be filed in person and will be accepted by the Clerk’s Office during regular business hours until Monday, November 23, 2026 at 2:00 pm.
Who is Eligible to Vote?
All members of the Bancroft Business Improvement Area are eligible to vote. Members are person assessed on the last returned assessment role with respect to rateable property in the Bancroft Ward that is in a prescribed business class and tenants of such property. A corporate member may nominate in writing one individual to vote on behalf of the corporation.
Election
If a greater number of candidates are certified than are required to fill the ten (10) Director positions, an election will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2026.
