The Town of Bancroft currently serves over 3,500 residents and is committed to ensuring pride in our community. Bancroft currently has undertaken several exciting projects and initiatives aimed at further developing and revitalizing our community. North Hastings Inspiration Place - New Library and Community Hub

  • The heart of this project is a re-imagined North Hastings Public Library with all that the current library offers and so much more
  • This new four-story, mixed-use building will host a brand new, fully accessible 4,500 sq. ft. library and community hub and 30 affordable rental housing units

Economic Development Strategic Plan- Making Our Future

  • The Economic Development Strategic Plan 2020-2024 was adopted in December of 2019
  • "Giving opportunity  a place to land" is a hallmark of the Making Our Future
  • The plan includes initiatives that address the way the municipality delivers its core services and signal hope and renewal. 

Community Improvement Plan 

  • Are you considering building or investing in Bancroft?
  • We are giving you an incentive to do so
  • Any development with a building permit issued after January 1, 2019 is eligible to apply subject to the conditions of the grant program. The Town has activated this incentive program of the Community Improvement Plan until December 31, 2023.

                        TOTAL FIRE BAN
A Total Fire Ban is in effect as of June 5, 2023 for all of North Hastings area, which includes the following Municipalities;

  • Town of Bancroft
  • Municipality of Hastings Highlands
  • Faraday Township
  • Wollaston Township
  • Tudor/Cashel Township
  • Carlow/Mayo Township
  • Limerick Township

This Fire Ban includes any open-air burning including campfires used for cooking and warmth, the use of fireworks and flying lanterns.    

CSA Approved gas cooking appliances may be used at this time.

Any persons found violating this ban could face applicable fines and/or charges.  Anyone deemed liable for a fire incident during this ban will face any and all costs incurred as a result of the fire departments response and actions taken to extinguish said fire.

Please monitor local media and municipal websites for any additional changes to the Fire Ban.

The Fire Ban will remain in effect until significant rainfall is received.
